Clinical Supervision
As an approved clinical supervisor (ACS) I believe that supervision is crucial for a counselor’s development. Supervision is a way to ensure the application of knowledge gained through coursework is applied to clients in the field. Furthermore, supervision is a process that encourages self-care throughout the counselor’s journey. The process of reflection, growth, and change is continuous; therefore, clinical supervision is a necessary component to guide reflection, facilitate growth, and provide support and guidance in ethically and emotionally challenging cases to create change.
My approach to supervision will involve an emphasis on meeting your needs as a supervisee and ultimately your client’s needs. In doing so, I utilize a wellness approach to supervision. To provide the best care for clients, supervisees must ensure they are well. In addition, I will utilize the integrated developmental model of supervision to ensure competence in various domains of professional functioning. Within this model of supervision, I will be assessing your motivation, autonomy, and awareness across different levels of development. Ultimately, the goal of supervision will always be on the supervisee’s development to ensure quality care of the clients.
